![]() As a fawn, his fur is somewhat lighter and is sprinkled with white spots. He may be a cross between certain types of deer, but this is just speculation. Regardless of what type of deer, it remains consistent across all of his appearances that he is a male deer. His appearance in Disney material was inspired by white-tailed deer according to some sources and mule deer according to others. In the original Felix Salten novels, he is explicitly stated to be a roe deer. Appearanceīambi is either a roe deer, white-tailed deer, or mule deer depending on the source. This led to him becoming a much more insightful, intelligent in the ways of the forest, and strict deer. It might have been after this and after the startling death of his childhood friend Gobo that he began to seek wisdom, looking to his father for advice like he never had before. When his father was injured in the inferno, Bambi learned his lesson and became more careful. This bravery of his turned into dangerous arrogance and carelessness when he, upon defeating his rival, Ronno, boldly marched into Man's camp and started a forest fire. Īs a young buck, Bambi wasn't quite as talkative as his younger self, though he continued to show the bravery of his youth during many incidents. When Man and his dogs attacked again, he proved his bravery by distracting the canines to save Mena, with this ultimately culminating in him knocking one of the dogs off from a high cliff, proving his bravery. Īfter experiencing the trauma of losing his mother and being chided by his father for freezing up during an incident where he was nearly attacked by Man's hunting dogs, he began to consciously focus on improving his bravery, wanting to be brave like his father. At the same time, he seemed to develop a sense of shyness, as can be seen in his first interactions with Faline. As his verbal abilities developed, he became more gregarious, talking frequently and excitedly. Įven as he grew, he continued to maintain this enthusiasm about life, friendliness, and inquisitiveness. He was also very friendly, quickly forming friendships with the likes of Thumper, Thumper's sisters, and Flower. These are just some of the reasons why I love Thumper. My daughter and I were lucky enough to meet them before they disappeared from the parks. With the closure of Camp Minnie-Mickey, Thumper and Miss Bunny can no longer be seen regularly at Walt Disney World. Thumper continues his lineage through his marriage to Miss Bunny. There is no lineage between Thumper and The White Rabbit from Alice in Wonderland. In fact, Thumper is Roger Rabbit’s uncle and made a brief appearance in Who Framed Roger Rabbit. Thumper’s large family includes Roger Rabbit. We know that rabbits like to multiply which, of course, leads to a lot of rabbits and large families. Thumper is able to teach Bambi a couple of words, “bird” and “flower.” We all know that Bambi used flower as the word for skunk. When he first meets Bambi while Bambi is exploring the world, Thumper takes it about himself to teach Bambi how to speak. There is no hiding about how he is feeling. You can easily tell his emotional state from his face. Thumper is a great source of energy and wonder. photo courtesy of pinterestĢ) He’s always full of energy and willing to teach. All of these are traits which can still be passed down to children today. It also teaches children to hold their tongue and be polite. Saying things that aren’t nice only leads to confrontation and that leads to unpleasant things like fights or even worse wars. It’s a great rule to live by for everyone. “If can’t say something nice, don’t say nothing at all.” I want to spend a some time discussing why I like Thumper, who in my opinion, is one of Disney’s best supporting characters.ġ) Even at a young age, he had his own law – “Thumper’s Law” My daughter had a copy of all of these books. These books were I Love You, My Bunnies, Thumper Counts to Ten, and Goodnight Thumper. Thumper, in the 21st century, became the centerpiece of a series of books under the Disney Bunnies. After Disney cast young voice-actor Peter Behn, who was only four years old, Thumper took on a prominent role in the movie. Originally, Thumper was to only have a minor role in Bambi. This adorable little rabbit made his debut in Bambi as a little ball of excitement, wonder, and, at times, mischief. Thumper is one of my favorite Disney characters.
